A retrospective cohort study, examining data spanning multiple timeframes, including Period A (July 2014 to 2015, n=201) before the DOSAP implementation, Period B (July 2016 to 2017, n=259) after DOSAP implementation, and Period C (July 2018 to 2022, n=1625) prospectively analysed four 12-month periods to evaluate long-term usage of DOSAP. Daphnia galeata, an essential plankton, is vital for the balance of aquatic ecosystems. Across the Holarctic region, D. galeata's presence is noteworthy due to its wide distribution. To unravel the genetic diversity and evolutionary progression of D. galeata, it is vital to gather genetic information from diverse geographical sites. While the mitochondrial DNA sequence of D. galeata is known, the evolutionary story of its mitochondrial control region is far from fully understood. This study involved extracting and sequencing a partial nd2 gene from D. galeata samples collected from the Han River, part of the Korean Peninsula, for haplotype network analysis. This analysis indicated that four clades of D. galeata are found throughout the Holarctic. The D. galeata, investigated in this study, were categorized within clade D and specifically found within South Korean boundaries. Sequences of the mitogenome from *D. galeata* collected along the Han River exhibited comparable gene content and structural organization to those documented in Japan. Moreover, the control region of the Han River exhibited a configuration comparable to Japanese clones, but displayed significant structural differences from European clones. A final phylogenetic analysis based on the amino acid sequences of 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs) illustrated the clustering of D. galeata from the Han River with isolates from Lakes Kasumigaura, Shirakaba, and Kizaki in Japan. Our investigation explored the impact of venom from two South American coralsnakes (Micrurus corallinus and Micrurus dumerilii carinicauda) on rat heart function, both without and with treatment employing Brazilian coralsnake antivenom (CAV) and varespladib (VPL), a potent phospholipase A2 inhibitor. Using a combination of fractal dimension and histopathological approaches, cardiac histomorphology, echocardiographic parameters, and serum CK-MB levels were evaluated in male Wistar rats after anesthetization and injection of either saline (control) or venom (15 mg/kg, intramuscular). Cardiac function remained unchanged two hours following venom injection for both venoms; nevertheless, M. corallinus venom stimulated the heart rate two hours later. This tachycardia was reversed by intravenous administration of antivenom (CAV, at a venom-to-antivenom ratio of 115), VPL (0.05 mg/kg), or a combination of both. The cardiac lesion scores and serum CK-MB levels were elevated in rats exposed to both venoms when compared to the saline control group. Only the combined CAV and VPL treatment managed to reverse these detrimental changes, though VPL alone effectively decreased the rise in CK-MB caused by M. corallinus venom. The fractal dimension of the heart's measurement was elevated by Micrurus corallinus venom, and these increases remained unaffected by any applied treatments. Finally, the cardiac function remained largely unaffected by the tested doses of M. corallinus and M. d. carinicauda venoms, though the venom of M. corallinus led to a temporary rise in heart rate. Cardiac morphological damage, evident in histomorphological analyses and a rise in circulating CK-MB levels, was induced by both venoms. The data encompassed information on 4434 patients. Postoperative hemorrhage, a rate of 63% after tonsillectomy, was notably different from the 22% rate associated with tonsillotomy. The surgical instrument monopolar diathermy (584%) was most commonly used, followed by cold steel with hot hemostasis (251%) and bipolar diathermy (64%). These instruments correspond to postoperative hemorrhage rates of 61%, 59%, and 81%, respectively. In tonsillectomy procedures, patients treated with bipolar diathermy experienced a significantly elevated risk of secondary hemorrhage compared to those managed with monopolar diathermy or the cold steel with hot hemostasis method, as statistically demonstrable (p=0.0039 and p=0.0029, respectively). While comparing the monopolar and cold steel groups with concurrent hot hemostasis, the difference observed was not statistically significant (p=0.646). Postoperative hemorrhage risk was 26 times greater for patients over 15 years of age. The presence of tonsillitis, a prior instance of primary hemorrhage, and a tonsillectomy or tonsillotomy without adenoidectomy, coupled with the patient's male sex and age of 15 years or older, increased the likelihood of secondary hemorrhage.
